The country will get a new president on the 25th of next month. Registration is in progress. June 29 is the last date to fill out the form. Meanwhile, the government and the opposition have started brainstorming on the names of the presidential candidates. Many names are being debated by the opposition regarding the presidential candidate, but no name has been agreed upon. Many opposition leaders explicitly refused to run for president, while the ruling party has yet to open its doors.
Women, Muslim, Dalits or anyone else from South India are believed to be in the race for the presidency so that the assembly elections in 2022-23 and the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 can be easily handled. It will be interesting to see if one of the names being comes out or the party comes out with a new name like every time.
Tribal : So far no one from the tribal community has been able to become the President of the country. Women, Dalits, Muslims and people from south India become presidents, but tribal society has been deprived of it. In such a situation, there is a demand to place a person from the Dalit community in the highest position of the country. Out of 543 Lok Sabha seats 47 seats are reserved for ST category. More than 60 seats are dominated by the tribal community. A large number of tribal voters are in critical conditions in MP, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. In such a situation, the name o the tribe is also being discussed.
Women : Women have become the core vote bank for the BJP. The BJP is trying to tap this vote bank. It is being said that the names of women are being considered the fastest, including, UP Governor Anandiben Patel. who is very close to Narendra Modi.
Former Governor Draupadi Murmu and Chhattisgarh Governor Ansuya Uike are also said to be involved in the race. In case of making one of two targets with one arrow. The first is that this will make it easier to handle the tribal community and the second is that it will also send a message to women.
South India : BJP wants to expand its presence in south india. For this, the party may try to send a message by appointing someone from South India as its president. In such a scenario. vice president Venkaiah Naidu from Andhra Pradesh is the strongest option. However, some other leaders from south india are also coming, whose names being discussed.
Muslim : The Hindu-Muslim dispute has been going on for the last few days. The BJP is looking for a candidate like former president APJ Abdul Kalam to end the controversy, but the party does not see such a face right now.
However, the name of Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, a native of Bulandshahr, UP, is also under discussion. Arif has always been a shield for the BJP on issues like triple divorce, CAA, but according to sources, the BJP may field him as Vice Presidential candidate instead of the President. It will try to send a message to the world that the party is not anti-Muslim, but anti-appeasement.
